Actor LeVar Burton played Lt. Commander Geordi LaForge on Star Trek: The Next Generation.

He was born on February 16th, 1957. While an undergraduate at USC, he landed his first major role: that of Kunte Kinte in the television mini-series Roots (1977). He has since appeared in a variety of movie and television roles, and continues to be the long-time host of Reading Rainbow, a childrens educational program.

In 1990, he recieved a star on Hollywood's Walk of Fame.

In addition to his contributions to TNG as Geordi LaForge, he has directed many episodes. In fact, he has directed the most episodes of any Star Trek actor.
